LegendStock 2008 Set for
August 16th at Bethel Motor Speedway
Legends fans in the Northeast have plenty to look forward to
this summer, as the new owners of Bethel Motor Speedway
(formerly White Lake) have announced LegendStock 2008, to be
held on August 16th. With a sizable purse and guaranteed
sponsorship for the race winner to go to the Legends Nationals,
the race is sure to draw Legends cars from all over the region.
During the month of August, the Legends division runs at
Riverhead twice, on August 10th and August 31st.
LegendStock 2008 is slated for Saturday, August 16th with a raindate
of August 17th. Back gates will open at 11 a.m., with technical
inspection taking place between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Practice will
be run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., with time trial qualifying
beginning at 4 p.m. The race is set to go green at 5 p.m.
The advertised purse for the event is $3,000, with $1,500 of
that going to the winner. This is the largest known purse for a
Legends race in the Northeast, and it may continue to grow as
the race date draws closer if further sponsorship is acquired.
In addition, the winner will be sponsored by Great North Legends
to the Legends Nationals at Elko Speedway in Minneapolis. A $50
entry fee includes both the car and driver, with additional pit
passes available at a cost of $25 each. All drivers will be
required to have a transponder, which will be available to rent
at the track for $25. Fuel will also be available at the
raceway.
“We decided to promote LegendStock because the Northeast is
the only region without a ‘big show’ that draws drivers from
around the country,” said the track owners. “We have had a very
good response so far. Our goal is to have between 100 and 125
Legends cars.”
All profits from the event are being dedicated to building a
Youth Program for future race car drivers. According to the new
track owners, the plan is to focus on programs targeting drivers
between the ages of 8 and 16 years old. It is anticipated that
the track will have a Bandolero series and a Quarter Midget
series.

numbers allowed, so drivers are urged to complete their
registrations in order to receive their preferred number.
About the Track: White Lake did not run a 2007 season,
and its new owners are breathing life into the raceway - now
known as Bethel Motor Speedway - rather than watching yet
another short track fall by the wayside. The quarter-mile oval
is located at 361 Horseshoe Lake Road in Bethel, just a few
short miles from the original site of Woodstock.
