School Bus Demo to Highlight Ideal Cesspools Night
at Riverhead Raceway August 9th
One of the more anticipated events on the annual Riverhead
Raceway schedule will unfold this Saturday evening August 9th
when Barbara & Jim Cromarty present a Full Size School Bus
Demolition Derby as part of the Ideal Cesspools night for the
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. A Blindfolded Taxi Cab race
and a Car Rollover Contest will also join the program.
The 2008 campaign marks the 10th consecutive year that Doug
Wholey and his Ideal Cesspools firm have been a marketing
partner with Riverhead Raceway.
This year they sponsor the NASCAR Modified division for the
season. Wholey himself is enjoying a solid season in the Late
Model division where he's currently among the top five in
points.
The 35-lap Ideal Cesspools night Modified feature will be
joined by the third 25-lap, double point feature event for the
returning Figure Eights, who enjoyed a two week break, with the
Late Models and Chargers completing the stock car portion of the
card.
For the Full Size School Bus Demolition Derby all the usual
personalities are expected to compete including "Cheesebox"
Michael Rommeney, "Slim" Jim Donaldson, "Tiny" Tim Farrell and
the always colorful local talent Donald Fox.
The third Blindfolded Taxi Cab race of 2008 will also be
presented with Scott Graham and Stan Wangenstein the most recent
winners two weeks ago in an event that finds cars going just
about everywhere on the oval and infield. Nick Herzberg and the
Savoy brothers Jason & Brian will lead the Car Rollover drivers
into action as well.
Qualifying is set for 5:00 pm with feature event racing set
for 6:00 pm. For further information please call 631-842-RACE or
