LegendStock 2008 Rapidly Approaching
For Legends drivers and fans who are
sitting in anticipation of the LegendStock 2008 race, the
countdown is rapidly progressing. The race is scheduled for
Saturday, August 16th with a rain date of Sunday, August 16th.
The race is being held at the newly-renamed and reopened Bethel
Motor Speedway (formerly White Lake), located in Bethel, New
York, just miles from the site of the original Woodstock music
festival.
It was recently announced that General
Mills Racing signed on to be the title sponsor of the event.
General Mills has a history of support for the Legends cars
series in the Minneapolis area. Also contributing their support
for the event are 600 Racing and RACEceiver. A RACEceiver
scoring system will be utilized for the event.
According to the revised schedule for the
day, the gates will open at 1 p.m., with practice running from 2
p.m. until 5 p.m. Time trials are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.,
with racing set to go green at roughly 6:30 p.m.
The race will be conducted in a true
shootout format. Drivers will run time trials, with the time
trial order being inverted for heat races. Points will be
awarded for both time trials and heat race finishes. Starting
spots in the main will be determined by the total number of
points accumulated in the two efforts combined.
The field for the A-main will consist of
the top 24 cars. Cars running in the A-main will receive $50 for
taking the green. The winner will pocket $1,500 and take home
the three-foot tall, guitar-shaped LegendStock 2008 trophy, and
will also be sponsored by Great North Legends for the Legends
Nationals in Minnesota. The first finisher in the Master, Pro,
and Semi-Pro classes will each receive a trophy. The race winner
will also receive a guaranteed provisional starting spot in the
NELMA Legends Fall Classic to be held at Mountain Speedway on
October 25th. All cars that do not qualify for the A-main will
be eligible to compete in the B-main.
