LegendStock 2008 Right Around the Corner

The wait is finally almost over for Legends drivers and fans in the Northeast who have been eagerly awaiting the LegendStock 2008 event, scheduled for this Saturday, August 16th at the newly-renamed and reopened Bethel Motor Speedway in Bethel, New York. Entries have been pouring in from all over - including upstate New York, Long Island, Pennsylvania and New Jersey - for the race, which is being sponsored by General Mills Racing and supported by RACEceiver and 600 Racing. The day promises to be full of excitement and intense racing action. In the event of rain, the race will be held on Sunday, August 17th.

Gates will open at 1 p.m. on Saturday, with practice running from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. At the conclusion of practice, time trials will be held. The field will be inverted for heat races. Starting positions for the feature event will be based on a combination of each driver's time trial and heat race results. Racing is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. Track management would like to stress, however, that the schedule may need to be adjusted based on the number of entries, so all drivers should plan to be at the track no later than 1 p.m.

"We are really looking forward to hosting this race," commented the track owners. "It has a lot of importance to drivers all over the Northeast, since they don't presently have any 'big purse' race in this region." The advertised purse for the race is $3,000., with the winner pocketing $1,500. and each car taking the green flag receiving $50.

Plenty of other incentives are in place for the winner of the event. The first finisher in the Master, Pro and Semi-Pro classes will receive a three-foot tall guitar-shaped LegendStock 2008 trophy. The winner will be sponsored to the Legends Nationals in Minnesota by Great North Legends. In addition, the winner will receive a guaranteed provisional starting spot in the Legends Cars Fall Classic to be held October 25th at Mountain Speedway in St. John's, Pennsylvania.

Plans call for 24 cars to run the A-main. Any drivers who do not qualify for this event will be eligible to run in the B-main.

The track itself reopened on August 9th, after rain postponed the scheduled August 2nd opening date. Long Island's Paul Dodorico, a former three-time champion at the track and winner of the opening night Legends race, is among those who have submitted entries for LegendStock 2008.
