Annual Long Island Old-Timers Racing Reunion
at Himes Museum August 24th
Long Island Racing Historian Marty
Himes, Curator of the Himes Museum Of Motor Racing Nostalgia,
will be holding the first of two Reunions on their traditional
date of Sunday, August 24th, at the Museum, located at 15 O'Neil
Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706. Many Long Island cars and stars of
yesteryear are expected to be on hand that day. The second
reunion will be held on Sunday, October 4th at Changing Times
Pub in Farmingdale, NY.
There has always been a great time
held by all at this event, which will be held RAIN OR SHINE! The
annual get-together is also a way for Himes to have his birthday
party, where he will once again celebrate turning "39". He
insists that as always, he doesn't want anyone to bring anything
except themselves, which is "present enough".
Drivers, crews, car-owners,
officials, media members, etc. will all be there. Some of the
personalities scheduled to be there are Bruno Brackey, George
Cousins, Bill Denniston, Tony Ferrante Jr., Ray Herald, Wink
Herald, Reggie Himes, Mary Kunnmann, Dottie Lee, Gary London,
Johnny Mann, Ray Mortuano, Ralph Pessa, George Peters, Bob Punzi,
Red Raynor, John Redlinger, Jeannie Reimuller, John Rigney,
Cookie Visconti, and George Wagner. Many more are expected to
attend.
"We've been doing this for many
years," Himes states. "Although others may have get-togethers
planned during the year, we've been doing this since 1967. We
have no plans on changing things now."
"We'll have hot dogs, soda, water,
and other stuff to eat," Marty continued. "The only thing people
need to bring are themselves."
Admission to both events for all
attendees are free. For further information, call Marty Himes at
