that the 2008 Champion Luncheon set for Sunday October 5th in
Manorville will indeed include the presentation of trophies for
the drivers who placed second through fifth in all seven stock
car divisions. The luncheon will take place at JC's Restaurant &
Pub in the Pine Hills Country Club and will start at 1:00 pm.
Veteran track spokesman Bob Finan noted,
"It was always Barbara & Jim's intention as they have every year
to present the second through fifth place trophies, we just had
work out the logistics." Once again the luncheon will feature
free admission with JC's Restaurant offering a free buffet to
enjoy, a cash bar in the pub will offer beer specials during the
afternoon.
Headlining the 2008 Riverhead Raceway
"parade of champions" is four-time NASCAR Modified champion Bill
Park of Manorville, who lives in the shadows of the Pine Hills
Country Club. 2008 Late Model champion Tom Rogers Jr. of
Patchogue, while Roger Maynor of Bay Shore will be feted for his
track leading seventh career championship. Chris Turbush of
Riverhead earned his first career Charger crown in 2008 and will
be honored, along with Scott Maliszewski of Deer Park who in
dramatic fashion on the final night of racing won his second
Blunderbust title.
Rounding out the presentation of nine
championships at the luncheon will be 2008 Super Pro Truck
champion Lou Maestri of Deer Park, who won his third
championship in an emotionally charged season. Timmy Solomito of
Islip, a 16-year old rising start will be honored as 2008 Legend
Race Car champion. For the second year running Michael Rommeney
of Maspeth will be feted for his Demolition Derby title, while

presented their 2008 hardware prior to the champions.
The luncheon will commence at 1:00 pm and
Finan will move the ceremony along quickly as after all the
champions have been crowned the room at JC's Restaurant & Pub
will then focus on a viewing party for the Talladega 500, an
opportunity for everyone to sit back and relax and enjoy the
race. The Pub area of JC's will also offer NFL Football.
