Riverhead Enduro Drivers
Schedule December 6th Awards Dinner
The loyal competitors of the Enduro series
at Barbara & Jim Cromarty's Riverhead Raceway announced today
through spokeswoman Elaine Vollmoeller that the 2008 Enduro
champions and top drivers will be honored at an awards dinner
Saturday evening December 6th.
"In August Elaine Vollmoeller approached me
at the track and asked if we would mind if the Enduro racers
formed their own dinner." Bob Finan explained, "This was before
we announced we weren't having a dinner and we all told her it
was a good idea."
The dinner will take place at JC's
Restaurant & Pub at the Pine Hills Country Club in Manorville in
their banquet room. Appetizers, along with a buffet style dinner
will be offered, with a DJ supplying the music for dining and
dancing during the five-hour affair that starts at 6:00 pm. A
cash bar will be available with ticket prices for this first
ever Enduro dinner set at just $45. Raffle tickets for cash and
other prizes will be available as well.
The 2008 Riverhead Raceway Enduro champions
will be presented with their CARQUEST Auto Parts trophies with
John Cozza of Medford the Grand Enduro kingpin leading the way.
Joining John will be Donald "Woot" Lawrence of Hampton Bays the
4/6-Cylinder Enduro champion, while Dege Russell of Rocky Point
will be honored for his 8-Cylinder title. For the second
consecutive year Shawn Wanat of Riverhead earned the 6-Cylinder
championship, with Bob Haeger of Hampton Bays scoring the
4-Cylinder championship.
During the 2008 Enduro season Elaine also
spearheaded a 50/50 raffle for a point fund, with the top five
drivers in the Grand Enduro ranks taking home a check, with the
top three in all other classes receiving money from that fund.
Aside from sponsoring the 2008 Enduro
championship trophies, the Long Island CARQUEST Auto Parts
dealers will provide drivers who finished second through fifth
in all divisions a CARQUEST Auto Parts trophy. All Enduro
winners at Riverhead Raceway also earned a trophy from CARQUEST
for their victory.
All drivers receiving trophies are asked to
wear a suit or sport jacket for photos to be taken that night.
The jackets can be shed as soon as the awards presentations are
complete.
One important note on the Enduro dinner,
tickets must be ordered by November 16th, as Elaine will be away
from the 18th until the 25th. Checks are made payable to ER
Racing and mailed to 58 Topping Drive in Riverhead, N.Y. 11901.
No tickets will be sold at the door! For further information
interested parties can call Elaine at 631-369-5461.
JC's Restaurant is in the Pine Hills
Country Club in Manorville and aside from the Enduro dinner
December 6th, home to the Riverhead Raceway champion's luncheon
and Long Island Daytona 500 party in 2008.
