The annual Riverhead Raceway Competitors' Winter Meetings are
once again just around the corner and are set for Sunday January
25th at the Polish Hall in Riverhead. Co-chief stewards Mike
Cappiello and Jim Maggio will host the daylong meetings in the
meeting room on the second floor of the Polish Hall.
Recently the tandem announced the schedule for the meetings,
which are informational in nature and not a rules meeting. The
day will start with both the Blunderbusts and Legends Race Cars
gathering at 9:30 am and they are to be followed by the Chargers
and Super Pro Trucks at 11:00 am. After a one-hour lunch break
at 12 noon, the meetings will continue at 1:00 pm with the Late
Model and Figure Eight classes meeting. The NASCAR Modifieds
will follow them at 2:30 pm with the afternoon concluding at
4:00 pm with a meeting for both the Enduro and Demolition Derby
divisions. This is the first time the Demolition Derby troops
are part of the Winter meetings and all those who compete are
encouraged to attend.
The 2009 Competitors' Winter Meetings are open to just two
members of a race team in any combination, owner/driver,
driver/crew chief or any other combo. Among the subject matter
presented will be the 2009 code of conduct and raceday
procedures.
The 2009 NASCAR Whelen All American Series is set to open
Saturday evening May 2nd with six divisions of racing on tap and
that will be followed the very next day Sunday May 3rd with the
2009 lid-lifter for the Enduro series and Legend Race Cars.
All teams are reminded that they need to re-register their
car numbers for 2009, whether they race in 2008 or not and
update all their other pertinent information by calling the
track office at 631-842-RACE prior to the January 25th meetings.
If you would like to e-mail Mike Cappiello and Jim Maggio
with any comments or suggestions prior to January 25th please
forward those thoughts to
info@riverheadraceway.com.
If you are with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and did
not receive a recent mailing that included the 2009 Riverhead
Raceway schedule, trailer response form and a Winter Meeting
schedule you need to call the office ASAP.
