As the date
approaches for the 51st running of the Daytona 500, race fans on
Long Island have a number of options if they choose to join the
"party crowd" to view the event. LongIslandJam.com has assembled
a list of some of the events going on across Long Island.
Bob Finan
and Steve and Tim Halpin will be playing hosts to a Daytona 500
party for the 14th year running. For the second consecutive
year, the party will be held at JC's Restaurant in Manorville.
JC's will open its doors at 11 a.m. There will be raffles and
race pools for attendees to take part in, and there will be
numerous door prizes to be given away. Last year's prizes
included a motorized cooler. JC's will have more than a dozen HD
plasma flat screen TVs to view the race on in the pub area, and
the back catering room will be open as well. There will be a
free buffet during the race, and JC's will be offering specials
on both domestic and imported draft beer. JC's is located on
Wading River Road in Manorville, between the LIE and Sunrise
Highway.
Also
returning in 2009 will be the dual parties and charity
fundraisers at Changing Times Pub in Farmingdale and Changing
Times Ale House in East Northport. Both locations will open at
11:30 a.m. for "The Great American Race".
Raffle
tickets will be available for $10 each or three for $25, and all
proceeds will benefit The Nassau-Suffolk Autism Society, The
Marty Himes Museum of Motor Racing Nostalgia, and The Kevin
Morrisey Scholarship Fund. The Grand Prize is a trip for two to
the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona Motor Speedway on July 3, 4, and 5,
including airfare, hotel accommodations, and race tickets.
Second prize is tickets to the Pocono 500 race on June 7. Third
prize is a basket of cheer.
Sponsors
for the events include 102.3 WBAB, Full Throttle Hot Rod
Magazine, Victory Lane Collectibles, and NEWS 10/55. More
