In the past the Daytona 500 has been
referred to as the "Granddaddy of them all", well the same could
be said for the Long Island Daytona 500 Party Sunday February
15th at JC's Restaurant & Pub in Manorville. The bash will again
be hosted by Riverhead Raceway's Bob Finan along with popular
track personalities Steve & Tim Halpin.
Once again a raffle - or perhaps raffles -
will be staged during the afternoon and into the evening for 42"
Plasma HD televisions, Steve Halpin explained, "This year the
boxes in the TV raffle will be marked down to just $10 per box
and if we can draw enough interest John & Jen of JC's will
raffle off more than one." Steve disclosed that the first pool
is already up and running at JC's.
Of course the TV raffle joins the
traditional Daytona 500 pools that Steve and Tim work so very
hard at and in 2008 no less than eight lucky winners went home
with some extra loot. These pools, along with the TV raffle, are
done in Super Bowl style boxes.
Aside from the raffle and pools, there of
course will be an endless hot and cold buffet served just before
and during the Daytona 500, with plenty of domestic and import
beer specials also "on tap".
Over a dozen big screen HD Plasma
televisions will broadcast the race and the back catering room
that hosted the Riverhead Raceway champions luncheon will be
open to accommodate the expected overflow.
Doors will open at 11:00 am at JC's
Restaurant, which is located in the Pine Hills Country Club on
Wading River Road in Manorville. From the Long Island
Expressway, use exit 69, go south and Pine Hills will eventually
be on your right; or from Sunrise, use exit 59 north and the
country club will be on your left.
Can't make it to Florida for "The Great
American Race"? Well then the next best thing is to be at the
great Long Island Daytona 500 Party. You never know who you
might just run into!
