According to 102.3 WBAB's weekend disc-jockey Steady (Mr.
NASCAR) Eddie Kelly, he was amazed at the number of race fans
who showed up for The Daytona 500 Party and Charity Fundraiser
at both Changing Times Pub in Farmingdale and Changing Times Ale
House in East Northport. "There was standing room only for most
of the race and the noise was so deafening you could hardly hear
yourself think."
One of the event’s organizers, Urssula Coppersmith, had to
use a microphone while doing the Chinese auctions and raffles so
everyone could hear their numbers.
Mike Barnikel was also pleased with the turnout. "You would
never know that the economy was in such a slump. People just
keep coming though the doors."
John Thompson, one half of the “Turn One Cowboys", added that
Bob of Marrzmotorsports was right in stating that “NASCAR people
are #1. They will always do the right thing when it comes to
helping out their fellow man."
Overall, the Daytona 500 Party and Charity Fundraiser was a
big hit. The charities benefited tremendously, while the
attendees had a great time.
Writer/journalist Danielle McCormack and cameraman Jeff
Rogers taped most of the event. It will be posted on the web
site for Full Throttle Autos Magazine within the next few days.
