In a sense you could say the Riverhead Raceway Enduro drivers
will be going "Hollywood" at the historic oval in 2009 as the
schedule released by Barbara & Jim Cromarty finds an increase in
Saturday night racing for all Enduro classes. The 2009 campaign
will start off on Sunday afternoon May 3rd at 12:30 featuring a
full card of Enduro racing. With the additional Saturday dates,
2009 will be among the busiest years for Enduro racing since
their first race in May of 1986 at Riverhead.
Once the matinee lid-lifter is in the books the Enduro troops
waste no time in seeing Saturday night action as the Grand
Enduro division will race on May 9th along with the NASCAR
Whelen All-American Series stars. The Grand Enduro drivers will
also compete on Saturday July 11th and again August 22nd.
Saturday May 16th will see the 2009 debut under the lights
for the 8-Cylinder Enduro competitors, who'll also race two
additional Saturday shows on July 18th and August 29th.
The 4/6-Cylinder Trucks will race on Saturday May 30th and
again on August 15th, while the 6-Cylinder drivers get their two
Saturday night dates on June 6th and July 4th. Last and
certainly not least are the talented 4-Cylinder Enduro drivers
who'll see two Saturday night dates beginning with June 27th and
joined by July 25th.
The entire 2009 Riverhead Raceway season will conclude with a
full slate of Enduro competition on Saturday September 26th
adding one final race under the lights before the off season.
After the Sunday May 3rd opening event for the cars and stars
of the Riverhead Raceway Enduros' the next event will be
Memorial Day weekend, Sunday May 24th and that will be followed
by a Sunday June 14th afternoon of Enduro racing. The two
remaining Sunday dates will take place August 9th and Labor Day
weekend September 6th.
All Enduro teams are invited to the two pre-season practice
sessions slated for Saturday April 18th and 25th at Riverhead
Raceway. At around 4:00 to 4:30 pm the Enduro cars will have the
quarter mile asphalt to themselves following a full day of
practice for the NASCAR stock cars.
Grandstand admission is free of charge for both the
pre-season practice days.
