Are You Ready? NELMA’s October Event Opens for Registrations

The spirit of competition burns brightly as NELMA officially opens registrations for its Fifth Annual Late Model Challenge, Legends Car Fall Classic, and Pro Truck Rumble. The Saturday, October 24 events hosted by Sundance Vacations Speedway in St. Johns, Pa. promise to deliver plenty of excitement for fans and competitors alike.

For the fifth year, the Late Model Challenge is already attracting the attention of the best pavement late model drivers in the Northeast. Last year, the trifecta of Kevin Metzger, Dave Macomber, and Tommy Spencer Jr. duked it out in the closing laps, all of whom raced their cars to their limits for a chance to be crowned Late Model Challenge champion. However, when the dust settled, the wily Spencer rode the outside of Metzger and Macomber to become the first-ever two-time Late Model Challenge winner.

The INEX Legends cars return this year for the second annual Legends Car Fall Classic. Talent from across the Eastern seaboard ventured for the 2008 event. A trio of young guns stole the show last year. Max Zachem, the then 15-year-old that hauled all the way from Preston, Conn., bested his fellow Connecticut rival Jason Palmer, and New Jersey’s Mike Alcaro.

America’s love affair with the pickup truck spreads to the racetrack as NELMA proudly completes their October 24 show with the Pro Trucks. Last year’s edition featured a family feud, where the Turbush and Dumicich families, both steeped in racing tradition, battled amongst the tailgate brigade. Chris Turbush took the checkered flag for his clan, while Erin Dumicich was the best of hers, finishing third behind second-generation racer Brian McElearney.

Now it’s your chance to make history. To register for this year’s can’t-miss event, visit www.nelmaracing.com.
