North Shore Animal League
America Honors Riverhead Raceway Owners
Jim and Barbara Cromarty for Humanitarian Service
Long Island Business Leaders Recognized at
Lewyt Humane Awards Luncheon
Jim and Barbara Cromarty, owners of Riverhead Raceway, a
NASCAR-sanctioned racetrack, have been honored by North Shore
Animal League America, with the Friend of the League Award in
recognition of their compassion for pets in need. The couple was
cited at the eighth annual Lewyt Humane Awards Luncheon,
recently hosted by the Animal League at the Garden City Hotel,
Garden City, NY.
The Cromartys were praised for the generosity in hosting various
special events that have enabled North Shore Animal League
America to extend its reach to thousands of racing fans who
visit their facility.
Devera Lynn, Vice President of Communications for the Animal
League, pictured with the couple above, presented the award,
saying that the Cromartys extended a warm and enthusiastic
welcome at pet adoption events on racing days and hosted other
successful events such as the Motorcycle Expo. The couple will
open the raceway to the Animal League for its upcoming Dog Walk
on August 29, which will be co-hosted by the NASCAR Foundation.
Riverhead Raceway, one of the oldest stock car race tracks in
the country, is a unique one-quarter mile asphalt, high-banked
oval, which includes a Figure 8 course. The size and shape of
the course allows fans and spectators to be right on top of all
the high-speed action, allowing for a more intimate experience.
