Alfred Maynor To Pace
Field In Ernie's Restored #82, July 11th
This Saturday at Riverhead Raceway, memories will be
rekindled in the Maynor family as the Figure 8's will be running
the Annual Barrasso and Sons, Ernie Maynor Memorial 25, double
point event. But this time, there will be a Maynor driving the
pace car, which will be Artie Schenk's restored #82 of Ernie
Maynor.
Alfred Maynor, Ernie's brother, will be making the trip up from
North Carolina this weekend to drive his brother's restored #82,
leading the Figure 8's to the green. Alfred paid a visit to
Roger a few weeks ago and Artie Schenk's restored #82 brought
back many memories to the Maynor family.
Photo Gallery Being Ernie's Memorial was
approaching, Artie and the family felt it was fit to let Alfred
sit in the restored #82 and be back out on Riverhead Raceway's
track, leading the pack to this special event.
Besides the #82 Figure 8 car, Artie will also have the restored
#49 on hand for all fans to see. These 2 beautifully restored
cars will also be at the Long Island Antique Power Associations,
17th Annual Summer Show, July 18th & 19th, 2009. The cars will
be part of The Himes Museum Of Motor Racing Nostalgia display,
which will be at this show. Directions are
6000 Sound Avenue, Jamesport, LI and this is always a very
popular event, year after year.
Roger also has had the itch to get his Late Model back on the
track for a few runs this year but needs some support to make it
happen. Being the Figure 8's do not run every week and a Late
Model is just sitting in the garage, Roger would like to get it
back out and race. Anyone can see Roger in the pits whenever the
Figure 8's are running an event and possibly help him get the
car out racing.
