Bethel Gears Up For INEX
National Qualifier
With only one race left before the 50-lap INEX Asphalt
Nationals qualifier race slated for August 1st at Bethel (NY)
Motor Speedway, it is expected that several visitors may make an
appearance at the speedway this weekend, looking to get seat
time prior to the race and potentially end Mike Alcaro's winning
streak in the process.
So far this season, three different drivers have picked up wins
in the Legends division at Bethel - Mike Alcaro, Kenny VanWickle,
and Joe DeGracia. Alcaro, who was the 2008 Asphalt Semi-Pro
champ for the state of New Jersey, has been undefeated in his
six appearances at Bethel, and has logged a considerable number
of laps at the facility. VanWickle and DeGracia are a pair of
teenage drivers who have both made several appearances at Bethel
in 2009. The young drivers each scored a win in Alcaro's
absence.
Other frequent competitors at Bethel who are expected to take
part in the August 1st national qualifier race include Kevin
Nowak, the 2008 INEX Asphalt Semi-Pro champ for the state of New
York; John Hugate, who currently sits second in track points for
the season; Matt Maring; Joe Fresco; Raven Schrantz; and Joe
Graf. Other drivers who have expressed an intent to compete are
Long Islanders Glenn Maningo and John Beatty.
For Bandolero drivers competing at Bethel in 2009, the entry fee
has been waived. Among those who have competed in the division
at Bethel so far in 2009 are AJ Hamilton, Andrew Bickford,
Joseph Graf Jr., and Nova Scotia's Andrew Mackintosh.
Bethel's gates open at 3:30 p.m., with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and
racing at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is just $5. More details
and a full schedule can be obtained at
