Chris Chirico, the 2001 Blunderbust champion at Riverhead
Raceway, announced that he will make his debut in the Street
Stock division at Bethel Motor Speedway this coming Saturday,
August 1st. Chirico will be behind the wheel of a car bearing
his familiar #87.
"I'm looking forward to getting back on the track," Chirico
commented. Chirico has been on the track at Bethel once, when he
piloted Tracy Chirico's 4/6 cylinder enduro truck, since she was
unable to compete in the truck due to her duties as the
speedway's PR writer. "I had a lot of fun running the truck up
at Bethel, and I'm excited to be able to get behind the wheel in
the Street Stock class."
Chirico will face some tough competition, coming from such
Bethel drivers as Gary VanOrden, who has recorded an impressive
eight wins in the division so far in 2009. Vinny Stanton Sr. has
also scored two wins.
"I have some good support behind me that is making this
possible," he stated. Chirico's supporters include New
Jersey-based Fred Graf Racing, Photos Plus by Lisa, and Broadway
Auto Parts of Greenlawn. "I also want to thank (Pro Stock
driver) Jim and Jen Helt, and (4 Cylinder Senior driver) Eddie
Lindstadt for all of their help."
