CHRIS YOUNG SCORES TOP
FIVE AT BETHEL
A lot has happened for 15-year-old Chris Young in less than a
year. Last November, he followed his father Chris, Sr. into
motorsports and hopped behind the wheel of an INEX Legends car.
His parents brought him to NASCAR Driver Development Specialists
Team Full Throttle, where he signed.
Seven races into his career, he won a national event at Orlando
SpeedWorld in February during Speedweeks. He also became the
youngest driver ever to compete in an adult class at Riverhead
Raceway in his home state. He finished seventh in the track's
point standings this season.
Now nearing the end of his rookie season, Chris Young traveled
to Bethel N.Y. to compete in a 20-lap event at Bethel Motor
Speedway, and finished a solid third after leading the first
10-laps and then running second most of the race.
"I had a great time racing there," the articulate youngster
said. "The track's not very wide, so it was a little
uncomfortable at first until I figured out the line. I had
nothing for the winner, but I think with some more seat time
there I might have held onto second. We're going back next
weekend, so I am hoping to improve and get another strong
finish."
Jay Sandlewski, a crew member on Chris, Sr.'s NASCAR Modified,
also made the trek to Bethel, finishing seventh in the team's
former backup Legends car. "Jay bought it before the race,"
Chris Jr. said. "It's cool to have him racing also now."
About Chris Young
Chris Young is a 15-year-old legends car racer. He's been around
racing his entire life, and recently began driving himself. He
hopes to gain experience in the legends cars before making a
move up the racing ladder. He was victorious in just his seventh
start in a Legends car, winning a national event during
Speedweeks at Orlando SpeedWorld in Orlando, Fl. in the spring
of 2009.
Chris is a member of the Team Full Throttle NASCAR Driver
