TRIOLA SET TO JOIN
LEGENDS RANKS AT RIVERHEAD
While the Riverhead Legends season may be over, one young
driver will be looking to get his feet wet this Saturday. It was
announced this week that go-karter Cody Triola has purchased the
former #83 Legends car of Greg "Stumpy Wheeler" DiCanio, and he
will turn his first practice laps this weekend in preparation
for his 2010 debut in competition.
DiCanio had listed his equipment for sale prior to the 2009
season, stating that he wanted to focus on go-karting with his
children, Nick and Julia. With the equipment still in his
possession, DiCanio ran a part-time schedule in 2009 before
turning the car over to Triola. Triola will carry a #29 on the
car.
Triola, known as "Mr. Excitement" in the go-kart ranks, brings
several years of experience to his new endeavor. He has been
racing go-karts since he was nine years old. In his seven years
of go-kart competition, Triola has scored five top three season
finishes.
"I'm looking forward to getting a few laps in," the 16-year-old
driver commented. "Stumpy made sure that I am going to have good
equipment under me, and I'm sure 2010 will be an exciting
season." Triola plans to run the full schedule in 2010.
