Riverhead Raceway to Host Swap Meet Nov. 1 & Champions
Celebration Nov. 15
Riverhead Raceway will host two off-season
events during the month of October it was announced today by
track officials. On Sunday November 1st after a one-year absence
the Long Island Automotive Swap Shop will return to Riverhead
Raceway hosted by Bob Finan, while Sunday November 15th the
NASCAR champions celebration will be held at JC'S of Manorville.
In announcing the return of the swap shop to the pit area of
Riverhead Raceway Bob Finan noted, "we've received numerous
calls urging us to host the swap shop again in 2009 and with
that being an open date on the East End Kart Racing schedule
we'll bring back this popular event". The Long Island Automotive
Swap Shop will run from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm with admission at
$20 per vendor space and
$5 for those coming just to shop around. Children under 6 will
be admitted free. Bob also disclosed, "this is not a swap shop
limited to only racecars from Riverhead, but all forms of motor
sports and classic cars. Also if folks want to come in and sell
NASCAR collectibles and the like they are more than welcome".
For the second consecutive year JC'S Restaurant in the Pine
Hills Country Club of Manorville will be the sight of the
Riverhead Raceway champions' celebration on Sunday November 15th
at 1:00 pm. John of JC'S graciously will open his catering room
that is adjacent to the pub for the celebration and once again
admission is FREE!
Honored for their 2009 NASCAR Whelen All American Series
championships will be John Fortin (Modifieds), Kevin Metzger
(Late Models), Roger Maynor (Figure Eights), Chris Turbush
(Chargers), Tommy Walkowiak (Blunderbusts), Mike Albasini (Super
Pro Trucks), Jimmy White Jr. (Demolition Derby) and Joe Marko
(Car Rollover Contest).
The top five drivers will also receive a handsome trophy in the
six stock car divisions and Rookie of the Year awards will be
presented in the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights
and Chargers. Best Appearing trophies will also be presented to
the six stock car classes.
"Once again we can't thank John and his staff of JC'S enough for
providing their facility to us" Finan commented. "Last year we
were able to give out the awards in around 45-minutes and what
is great about this format is all the drivers can bring their
families, especially the children to be part of the fun".
A free light buffet will again be provided and once the awards
have been distributed everyone is invited into JC'S Pub for some
adult beverages and watch some NASCAR Sprint Cup racing or NFL
Football.
