Riverhead Announces
Addition of Steve Tooker to Staff for 2010
Just hours after returning from Charlotte,
N.C. and being part of the NASCAR Hall of Fame voting process,
Riverhead Raceway promoters Barbara & Jim Cromarty announced
that Steve Tooker will join their staff as a NASCAR Official
Consultant in 2010.
"We're both very happy and excited that Steve Tooker has agreed
to come on board with our existing staff of NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series Officials," the Cromarty's jointly stated. "
Steve knows the sport from both sides of the fence and we feel
will be a great fit".
Among his raceday duties will be viewing the racing action from
the press tower and communicating with the on-track NASCAR
Officials in a number of areas including race procedure and race
related calls.
Tooker, who resides in Riverhead, is a former three-time Late
Model champion winning the crown in 1996 and then for two years
in a row in 1998 & 1999. Steve ranks 4th on the all-time LM win
list with 30 victories to compliment three Charger division
wins.
Prior to racing at Riverhead Raceway Steve Tooker served as the
starter for then promoter Tom Galan in late 70's.
The 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will open Saturday
evening May 1st at Riverhead Raceway, the first show of a
doubleheader weekend that will conclude with Enduro racing on
Sunday afternoon May 2nd.
