Verizon FiOS to Broadcast
Riverhead Raceway Weekly
Riverhead Raceway promoters Barbara & Jim
Cromarty announced recently that Verizon Fios 1 Sports will
indeed return for the 2010 season at the famed quarter mile oval
and in fact expand their broadcast schedule to weekly races for
the new season that opens in May.
During the 2009 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and Enduro
races Verizon was taping events for broadcast on Wednesday of
the following week, with a repeat on Fridays. The Riverhead
Raceway races became so popular with Verizon Fios executives and
viewers that the decision was made to expand to a weekly format
for 2010 which creates tremendous opportunities for race teams
and sponsors alike.
The Riverhead broadcast team of Bob Finan and Jeff Bressler
handled the calling of the races last season for Verizon Fios
and it is expected they will do so again next year. Bressler, a
veteran Motorsports journalist of print and radio outlets noted
the importance of this announcement. "This is very big for
everyone at Riverhead Raceway"
Bressler noted. "Race teams can now tell a prospective sponsor
that they will now also receive exposure on television through
the Verizon Fios 1 Sports broadcasts.
The 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Riverhead Raceway
will get underway Saturday evening May 1st, while the 2010
Enduro season will commence the next afternoon Sunday May 2nd.
