SAFER Banquet Set for
November 21
The Suffolk Association of Figure Eight
Racing club has announced that they have moved-up their annual
awards banquet some five months over years past as the 2009 bash
will take place Saturday night November 21st at the Smithtown
Landing Country Club. For many years the dinner had been held in
March, just prior to the new race season.
Long recognized as one of the best, if not the best awards
dinner in short track racing, the 2009 dinner will again offer a
five hour and a half hour open bar from 7:30 pm until 1:00 am, a
full blown buffet dinner and a DJ for you dancing pleasure.
Tickets are priced at $65 per person and can be obtained by
calling SAFER official Joe Saraceno on his cell phone,
631-681-3140.
Roger Maynor of Bay Shore will be feted as the 2009 SAFER Figure
Eight champion and collect the lion's share of the SAFER point
fund for his efforts, which included his 100th career Riverhead
Raceway victory in 2009. All the top SAFER drivers will be
honored with some hardware and point fund checks.
Plenty of special SAFER awards will be dulled out as well,
including the 2009 Rookie of the Year, SAFER Monthly Achievement
awards with the 2009 SAFER Ernie Maynor Hall of Fame class to be
announced among others.
It's a great night to gather just prior to the holiday season
and recount the 2009 SAFER season and look forward to 2010.
The Smithtown Landing Country Club is
located at 495 Landing Avenue in Smithtown and again for tickets
phone Joe Saraceno at 631-681-3140.
