Announces Exciting 2010 Schedule
Riverhead Raceway owners/promoters Barbara
& Jim Cromarty released their 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series schedule Monday morning and it is among the most diverse
and comprehensive schedules ever. The NASCAR stock cars will
open Saturday May 1st and the Enduro season will commence Sunday
afternoon May 2nd.
The NASCAR Modifieds will once again be the premier division of
the Whelen All-American Series and compete in 19-scheduled
points paying regular season events. A new event is being
introduced in 2010 on Saturday May 15th as the class will
compete in a 100-lap Hall of Fame feature event that will pay
double points with time trial qualifying. This event will be in
honor of the opening of the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC
in May. The two other double point NASCAR Modified races will
come on June 19th with a 50-lap main event and the annual
Cromarty Cup 50 set for July 3rd.
The Baldwin, Evans Jarzombek 77-lap Memorial is slated for
NASCAR Foundation Night on July 17th. The NASCAR Whelen Modified
Tour for the 26th consecutive season will visit Riverhead
Raceway Saturday July 31st for a "Flash" race.
In another new twist to the 2010 slate if in the event the final
NASCAR Modified race set for September 11th is rained out, it
will be rescheduled for the following Saturday September 18th.
The Late Model troops will be happy to hear their 2010 workload
will increase to 12 races featuring two-50-lap double point
races on May 22nd as well on Miller Lite night August 28th. The
division has once again been added to the National Demolition
Derby program September 18th and run a 50-lap, single point
race.
The Figure Eights will once again be part of the Riverhead
raceway schedule in 2010 running a 12-race slate with their
feature events being pared
back to 15-laps. Their first extra distance race will be the
Cromarty Cup 20 Saturday May 15th, while the other two 20-lap
double point races fall on July 10th and September 18th.
Charger teams can count on a scheduled 17-race season next year
at Riverhead Raceway with their first 30-lap, double point race
of the year coming quickly on Saturday May 8th, the second week
of competition. The other double point races going 30-laps are
set for June 5th and July 31st, as part of the NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour program.
The Blunderbust division, who week in and week out provide some
of the most exciting finishes will get a chance to do so on 16
occasions in 2010. The class gets right down to business with a
30-lap, double point race on opening night May 1st, which is
followed up with double point event on June 19th and again July
31st.
The "Tailgate Brigade" Super Pro Trucks will go to the post for
a dozen races in 2010, all on Saturday evenings this season. The
class has no scheduled Sunday afternoon shows next year and will
run a time trial double point race on Saturday May 8th.
The Legend Race Cars are back in 2010 at Riverhead for a
nine-race slate and like the Super Pro Trucks will run that
entire schedule on Saturday nights starting with opening night
May 1st.
Five Sunday afternoon Enduro programs will be presented at
Riverhead Raceway in 2010 starting with May 1st, with shows also
set for May 30th, June 20th, August 15th and September 5th. The
Enduro teams will close out their season with a stand-alone
Saturday night show that annually concludes the season on
Saturday September 25th in an Oktoberfest event. All Sunday
Enduro shows will feature Enduro racing only with no other
Saturday night divisions or supports races.
Each class of Enduro racing will race twice on Saturday nights
as part of the NASCAR programs as follows. Grand (5/8 & 7/10),
4/6-Trucks (5/22 & 9/4), 8's (5/15 & 7&17), 6's
(6/5 & 7/3) and 4's (6/26 & 8/7).
Always a staple on the annual Riverhead Raceway schedule are the
wildly popular Demolition Derbies with four set for the
8-Cylinder cars starting
on Saturday June 19th and followed up by events on July 3rd,
September 4th and the biggie, the National Demolition Derby
Championship September 18th.
The 4-Cylinder machines will do battle on May 29th and August
21st, both Saturday evenings. All Demolition Derby events in
2010 will be straight-up points paying events and no longer
feature a theme while the rules for 2010 will be going back to
the basics. Those all-new rules will be released in the weeks to
follow.
The immensely popular School Bus events are back for the new
season with the Full Size School Bus Figure Eight races set for
May 29th and June 26th. After that the big buses will be
destroyed in Demolition Derby action on both July 24th and again
August 21st.
The Mini-School Buses spring into action with a Figure Eight
race June 19th, which is followed by a Demolition Derby August
7th.
Two huge Fireworks shows are set for the annual Independence Day
Spectacular on July 3rd as well Saturday 21st for the I Love
America night program.
A new event will debut at Riverhead in 2010 on Saturday May 22nd
in the form of Skid Plate Races with this new and exciting race
also set for June 5th, July 10th and August 21st.

With an eye towards the kids, Amusement Rides will be available
at Riverhead Raceway for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends,
which will The rides will also be at the annual Monster Truck
doubleheader show and the I Love America Night show August 21st.
A Night of Adventure will be presented Saturday August 7th and
star Transaurus-Dinosaur of Destruction along with a Mini School
Bus Demolition Derby and the seasons one Car Rollover Contest.
