Last Chance: Help Bring
the Holidays to a Kid in Need
By Danielle McCormack
This Sunday, November 22, at Riverhead
Raceway, the East End Kart Racing (EEKR) go-karts will have one
last chance to help John Thiessen Children’s Foundation. In
addition to attending a full day of double features, you can
help bring the Holiday spirit to a child in need by bringing an
unwrapped new toy to donate to the worthy cause.
Acting EEKR president Dave Brigati said
that over the last two weeks, the response has been overwhelming
from club members and race fans from across Long Island. It’s
nice to see everyone in the racing community open their hearts,
especially at this time of the year and during these tough
economic times.
Senior Champ over 35 driver Joe Hodge said
it best: “It just goes to show you that Long Island race fans
always do the right thing – we’re one big, happy family.”
Also, this Sunday, John Theissen will be on
hand to personally thank everyone that contributed to the
effort.
So, if you haven’t had the chance, bring a
new unwrapped toy down to Riverhead Raceway this Sunday and put
a smile on a kid’s face this holiday season.
Gates open at 7:30 a.m., with rainout makeup races going first,
then the regularly scheduled show soon thereafter.
