Bethel Announces L.I.-Friendly
Schedule for Legends & Trucks
This week, the management at Bethel Motor
Speedway released their finalized schedule for the 2010 season.
Among its features is an extensive schedule for Legends and
Bandoleros. The track will also host 4/6-cylinder trucks on two
dates.
Bethel will kick off its 50th anniversary season on April 24th,
with gates opening at 2 p.m. for early practice before the
regular show. For other shows, gates open at 3:30 p.m., with hot
laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.
Legends and Bandoleros are both on the schedule for Opening
Night, April 24th. They compete in May on the 8th, 15th, and
22nd. June Legends and Bandolero competition starts on the 12th,
when competitors can take part in Camera Night as fans join the
competitors on the speedway surface to get “up close and
personal” with the drivers and cars. They race again on June
26th. Both classes will be a part of the “Firecracker Madness”
weekend, racing on both Saturday and Sunday. The divisions are
on the schedule again July 17th and 31st.
August competition at Bethel begins with LegendStock 2010 on the
7th. LegendStock, believed to be the highest-paying Legends race
in the Northeast, has been very popular since its inception in
2008. LegendStock has a raindate of August 8th. Additional dates
for Legends and Bandoleros in August are the 14th and 28th.
September will be a busy month for competition, with Legends and
Bandoleros on the schedule on the 4th, the 18th, and the 25th.
Bethel will once again cap off its season with “Bethel Motor
Madness”, featuring racing on both October 2nd and 3rd. Legends
and Bandoleros are on the schedule for both days. JD Abrahams
was the 2009 “Bethel Motor Madness” Legends champion, while
Chris Young finished second for the weekend and three-time
Bethel Legends champion Paul Dodorico captured a feature race
win on the first day of competition.
Bethel’s 2010 schedule includes two dates for the 4/6-cylinder
trucks, on July 24 and September 11. The trucks made one
appearance at the speedway in 2009, and were very popular with
the fans. Kevin Nowak won the inaugural 4/6-cylinder truck race
in 2009, and John Cozza followed him to the line.
Bethel will continue to offer $5 grandstand admission in 2010.
The full schedule is available through the track’s web site at
