James Charrier
and Rob McCormick Share Riverhead Sunday Honors
				Riverhead Raceway concluded its
2010 opening weekend Sunday afternoon with a full card of Enduro
racing action which found James Charrier of Shirley scoring his
first career Grand Enduro victory, while Rob McCormick of
Calverton topped the 4/6-Cylinder Truck Enduro. Both events went
a distance of 50-laps and highlighted six feature events for the
Enduro classes at the quarter mile oval.

David Antos took the lead of the Grand Enduro on lap 2 from Pete
Cherouvis who led the first lap and for a spell it appeared that
Antos, a second year driver in the class would grab his first
				career win.
				However another driver, James
Charrier had the same thought on his mind and on lap 25 took the
lead from Antos and pulled away to a comfortable victory in his
ClearBeerDraft.com Chevy. Charrier had been waiting five years
for this moment and paid tribute to the late Racin' Rich Johnson
who got him started in the sport. David Antos of Lindenhurst was
second in the CR Customs Monte Carlo, while "Jumbo" Jimmy Denis
of Middle Island crossed the line in third in the Salon Nevaeh
				entry.

The 4/6-Cylinder Truck Enduro saw Robin Vollmoeller and his
stepson Shawn Wanat do battle early on for the race lead, with
Greg Harris and Rob McCormick not far behind for the first half
of the contest. As the race neared the halfway mark McCormick
made up plenty of track position and reeled in the race leaders.
It would be the 28th lap that Rob, steering the McCormick
Motorsports entry would take the lead which he would not
surrender as he drove to victory. Kevin Nowak of Medford was
runner-up in the Racing Creations Chevy, while Greg Harris of
Hampton Bays in the SGS Stone Works mount placed third.

Dominic Ranieri Jr. of E. Northport got his 20th season of
Enduro racing off on the right foot, literally as he won the 1st
8-Cylinder Enduro in a 60-lap event in his Westhampton Auto
Salvage Chevy. In the 50-lap nightcap Anthony PIzzo of Lake
Ronkonkoma was awarded the win in his STS Tire Works entry.
Pizzo had crossed the line second but the race winner Mike Smith
was disqualified for his post race actions with Dominic Ranieri,
who was also disqualified for his part in the altercation.

Shawn Wanat of Riverhead took home top prize money in the 50-lap
6-Cylinder Enduro, while Anthony Pizzo of Lake Ronkonkoma won
the 4-Cylinder Enduro 75-lap main event in his A. Voight Towing
machine. Pizzo stopped the 7-race win streak of Matt Brown, who
won all the 4-Cylinder  races in 2009.
