EEKR Race No. 2
Report
by Danielle McCormack
Bright sunshine and warm
temperatures met the EEKR go-karters for the second race of the
2010 racing season. As expected acting president Dave Brigati
and his officials did another outstanding job keeping the days
activities on track. Which made for a wonderful day for all the
competitors and their families, allowing them to all be home for
dinner at a decent time.
Returning to the go-kart racing scene after a long absence was
Kevin Pollack, his son Kevin Jr. and Christian. Kevin hasn't
been a part of go-kart racing since the club was under the old
Eastern Kart Racing Association name years ago. He left the club
because he was unhappy with the way the club was being ran so he
thought it would be best for him and his family to leave. However, last year, after hearing
about all the changes Brigati and his officials had made to the
club, he returned to Riverhead for a visit. Before returning to competition,
Pollack had a long conversation with acting
president Dave Brigati and other members of the club. He loved
what he heard and the new direction the club was heading and
finally decided to return for the 2010 season, although Kevin
Jr.
will be running only a limited schedule,
concentrating mostly on longer distance races and money races. While his younger brother, Christian will
be running a full season competing in one of the Junior
Sportsman Champ classes.
This week profile photos will begin to be added to our profiles.
At upcoming races, additional photos will be taken. In addition,
they will also be used for the end-of-the-year 2010 yearbook.
This weeks racing saw some repeat winners in victory lane they
are Champ Beginner's Jaclyn Busch (26) , Junior I and Junior Sportsman
Champ I's Nick Harnage (2), Junior II and Junior Sportsman Champ II's Vincent Biondolillo
(66), Medium Animal and Medium's Dean Grunert (21), Senior
Champ Over 35's Woot Lawrence (34), Kid Champ's Kenneth Massa (51), and Novice's Frank Kurklen
(34). Even though it is early in the season all these drivers
are definitely starting the year on the right foot toward a
championship.
