Bethel Young
Racers to Host Kevin Yeatts Clinic May 22
Since Bethel Motor Speedway (NY)
reopened under new ownership in August of 2008, an increased
emphasis has been put on the development of young racers - the
future of the sport - through the Young Racers Program. This
Saturday, May 22nd, the Young Racers Program will host Legends
instructor Kevin Yeatts at the speedway for a clinic from 3 pm
until 5 pm. Due to the limited time frame, the clinic will only
be open for the first three drivers to register. To register or
for more information, drivers can contact Yeatts directly at
information@kevscorner.com.
Yeatts has run many successful clinics at other speedways, with
positive results. It is his hope that he will be able to offer
more clinics at Bethel later in the 2010 season.
Many drivers have described the 1/4-mile asphalt track at Bethel
as “technical”, and it has been compared to such other tracks as
Charlotte Motor Speedway in terms of the driving skills
employed. This makes the track a perfect place for those in the
Northeast who cannot make it to Charlotte prior to the Legends
Million in July to get some seat time on a similar surface.
According to Yeatts himself, “Bethel and Charlotte employ
similar driving techniques: get through the center of the corner
and off hard. At the end of the straights, you get off the gas
on on the brake hard to slow the car before you get to the
corner, so both tracks demand you have your brakes working
properly and not have one corner of the car over or
under-braking. Both tracks determine the winners at the center
of the corner because both tracks require you have your car
turning extremely well.”
