Riverhead
Raceway Moves Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 Up One Week to July
10
Barbara & Jim Cromarty
announced today a date change for the popular Tom Baldwin,
Richie Evans & Charlie Jarzombek Memorial at Riverhead Raceway
moving the race up one week from July 17th to July 10th.
Northeastern Office Equipment will again serve as the title
sponsor of the race that remembers three of the most successful
and popular NASCAR Modified drivers in the country.
The race is being moved to July 10th after several drivers from
the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour expressed an interest in running
the 77-lapper after the recent NASCAR Hall of Fame 100 that took
place on May 15th at the quarter mile oval. With the WMT set to
return to the Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire July 17th,
Barbara & Jim Cromarty decided it was best for all parties
involved to move the Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 by
Northeastern Office Equipment to the July 10th race card.
With the Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Flash
event set for July 31st the 77-lapper is another opportunity for
many WMT teams to prepare for the race, which will be the first
of the 2010 Versus Network broadcast package. Ronnie Silk of
Norwalk, Ct., who won the NASCAR HoF 100 was among those who had
expressed interest in running the 77-lap event but he would not
have been able to if the race remained on its original date.
For the Cromarty's moving the race to July 10th is a gamble of
sorts, as that date also serves as the rain date for the huge
Independence Day Fireworks program which includes the annual
Cromarty Cup 50 for the NASCAR Modifieds. However in the
interest of working with all parties Barbara & Jim feel this is
the right move.
The July 17th program will now find a regular 35-lap NASCAR
Modified feature event being contested on NASCAR Foundation
night.
