Legends Return
to Bethel June 12th
After a two-week break, Legends
will once again hit the pavement at Bethel Motor Speedway on
Saturday, June 12th, for their fifth race of the 2010 season. So
far, the division has witnessed sizable car counts and has
provided some exciting wheel-to-wheel racing action.
Last year, several Long Island drivers registered considerable
success at Bethel, taking advantage of the differing schedules
of Bethel and Riverhead Raceway. Paul Dodorico and Chris Young
each scored feature wins, while JD Abrahams captured the "Bethel
Motor Madness" title.
In recent weeks, articles have been published comparing Bethel
to Charlotte Motor Speedway, which will be the site of the
Legends Million in July. This makes Bethel an ideal place for
drivers in the Northeast who cannot make it down to Charlotte to
get seat time in preparation for the big event. During a recent
trip to Bethel, Legends driver Kevin Yeatts commented, “With the
added pavement, Bethel is even more like Charlotte now than it
was before.”
Others have taken advantage of the opportunity to prepare for
LegendStock 2010, which will be held at Bethel on August 7th.
Once again, the race will feature a $1,500 payday for the
overall winner, as well as three-foot tall guitar-shaped
trophies for the winners in each of the divisions. This year’s
LegendStock event has increased significance, as it will also
serve as an INEX Asphalt Nationals qualifier. More details about
LegendStock 2010, including registration procedures, will be
available in the coming weeks.
June 12th is also Camera Night at Bethel. Fans will get the
opportunity to go out on the track and get up close and personal
with the drivers and cars that compete weekly.
Gates open at 3:30 pm, with hot laps at 5:30 pm and racing
slated to begin at 7 pm.
After the June 12th event, Legends will have a week off. The
division is back on the schedule on June 26th before kicking off
the month of July with a two-day show on July 3rd and 4th.
