Full-Size
School Bus Demo to Rock Riverhead July 24
Saturday night July 24th the house will
be rocking at Riverhead Raceway as Barbara & Jim Cromarty will
present a Full Size School Bus Demolition Derby in addition to
another action packed high speed night of NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series stock car racing. Five divisions of NASCAR
racing will unfold on the quarter mile oval featuring the NASCAR
Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Blunderbusts and Legend
Race Cars. A free Amusement ride for the youngsters will be
available in the turn three midway area as well.
The sights and sound of the 13-ton Full
Size School Buses crashing into each other over and over again
defy description and the heavy hitting does not stop until the
last bus is standing and declared the winner. With such colorful
drivers as "Slim" Jim Donaldson, Michael "Cheesebox" Rommeney,
Tommy "The Wildchild" Walkowiak, "Hubcap" Brandon Hubbard and
"The Fox"
Donny Fox being just a sampling of the drivers who will take
part in the Full Size Bus Demolition Derby, this is an event
that has to be seen in person to be believed.
The chase for the 2010 NASCAR Modified
title will continue with a 35-lap main event with Chuck Steuer,
Tom Rogers Jr. and defending champion John Fortin being the
three primary players as the season hits the homestretch.
The race will also serve as a final tune-up for the July 31st
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Riverhead 200 the following week.
The Late Models will race a 25-lap feature on the night, while
the Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars go 20-laps and the Figure
Eights will race for 15 circuits. Rounding out the night will be
the always popular 8 cylinder Enduro.
The July 24th program will begin at 6:00
PM with feature event racing and spectator gates will open at
3:00 pm. For further information please call 631-842-RACE or
