Legend Cars 40-Lapper
Headlines Wall Stadium This Saturday (8/28)
Although five stock car divisions will be racing at Wall
Stadium this Saturday night (August 28), the popular INEX Legend
Cars will be in the spotlight in an extra-distance 40-lap main
event. In addition, the Modifieds will also compete in a 40-laps
of main event action, while the Sportsman cars and Street Stocks
race in 25-lap feature events and the Factory Stocks race in a
20-lapper. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m., with
qualifying set for 6:30 p.m. and main event racing scheduled for
7:30 p.m.
Among the drivers to watch in this championship race for the
Legend Cars will be 8-time winner and current point leader
Trevor Alspach of Willingboro. Alspach will see plenty of
competition as front-runners Brian Spencer of Edison, Ron Poley
of Egg Harbor Township, Mark Tischler of Martinsville and
Eatontown’s Malcolm Campbell will be among the racers in action.
Although defending Supreme Manufacturing Modified champion Chas
Okerson of Freehold, who is also a multi-time Pro Stock champion
at the stadium, is currently at the top of his game, he will
have plenty of competition in his quest for Modified glory and a
second straight crown. Neptune’s Tommy Farrell, Shaun Carrig of
Little Falls, Roger Coss of Lafayette, David Reinhardt of
Neptune City and Tim Arre of Toms River are just a few of the
area’s standout Modified drivers expected to go for the win and
the season-long driving title.
The speedway’s Sportsman division is also creating a lot of
interest. While 2009 champion Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck will
lead the field in Saturday’s 25-lapper, standouts Robert Sutphin
of Brick, Charlie Kremer III of Toms River, Kevin Davison of
Howell and 2009 “Rookie of the Year” Andrew Krause of Holmdel
will be among those offering plenty of competition.
Flanagan Retail Development point leader Rob Longo of Wall and
Street Stock point leader Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood will lead
their divisions into action
The current schedule for the August 28 card will see the
competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m., with a paid testing
session for competitors then running from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m.
The regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 3:30
p.m., while spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying
will start at 6:30 p.m. before main events roll out onto the
track at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
While the Sunday Series will have this weekend off, the speedway
will be open as it hosts the annual Car Show all day on Sunday,
August 29.
Wall Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just
one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate
195 exit 35B. The speedway office is open from 10:00 a.m. until
4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and all day Saturday during
events. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while more
