NELMA Night Moves to
Finish Line Bar and Grill in Hazleton
NELMA’s traditional kickoff to its Saturday stock car racing
event on October 23 at Sundance Vacations Speedway begins the
preceding night, Friday, October 22, but this year the venue
changes to the Finish Line Bar and Grill in downtown Hazleton
from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. In addition, Finish Line Bar and Grill has
signed on as presenting sponsor of the NELMA Legends Car Fall
Classic.
Former Sundance Vacations Speedway racers, Jason and Marissa
Makarewicz, own the downtown establishment. The venue, which is
located on 410 East Second St in Hazleton, features motorsports-related
décor, an ode to the owners’ racing heritage. In addition to
NELMA’s appearance, the band Two of Us will provide live music
starting at 9 p.m.
NELMA Night on Fri., Oct. 22 at Finish Line Bar and Grill
precedes an action-packed day of racing and entertainment during
NELMA’s annual event, the premier stock car racing event of NEPA
held on Sat. Oct. 23 at Sundance Vacations Speedway in St.
Johns, Pa. The day features three divisions with fierce
competition from all corners of the Eastern Seaboard – the NELMA
Late Model Challenge, NELMA Legends Car Fall Classic presented
by Finish Line Bar and Grill, and the NELMA Street Stock Fender
Fury. With the Hazleton Rat Rod Festival and Automotive Swap
Meet (10AM-2PM) preceding the event, the day’s activities is
making Sat., October 23 at Sundance Vacations Speedway in St.
Johns, Pa. a worthy mid-Autumn venture. For competitors, pits
open at 8 AM, with practice beginning at 10 AM. For NELMA fans,
grandstands will open at 12 noon, with qualifying to begin at
12:30 PM, and the show to start at 2 PM. The rain date for the
show is Sunday, October 24.
And, best yet, despite being a special show, grandstand adult
admission is still only $10, with kids 10 and under free. So
bring the entire family, and enjoy a day of thrilling,
high-octane excitement without breaking the bank.
