The Youngs Purchase Florida Track
Young Unlimited, owned by Riverhead Raceway Modified driver
Chris Young and his wife Ann, has purchased the high-banked,
.375-mile, paved Bronson Motor Speedway in Florida. The track,
which sits roughly 20 miles southwest of Gainesville, plans to
run Legends cars along with other divisions based on input from
local competitors.
Chris Young, who has raced over 40 years, and his wife Ann, who
has been a part of the sport in several capacities, including as
a NASCAR official, for just as long, hope to bring a
racer-oriented focus to the facility, with aspirations of making
it the fun place to race in Florida.
A meet and greet at Bronson has been scheduled for Saturday,
February 19, from 1-5 p.m. While Ann Young says the facility
boasts many top-notch amenities for racers and fans alike, they
will need to do some minor TLC to bring the track into
race-ready mode. They are aiming for an opening practice in
March, with their first race soon thereafter. Young says the
2011 season will featured a limited schedule, with anywhere
between 12-18 races.
In addition to his new role as promoter, Chris Young will run
the full NASCAR Modified schedule at Riverhead Raceway, and his
son Chris will run a full schedule with his Legends car.
