Super Pro Trucks Added To May 7 Opener
It is Riverhead Raceway promoters Barbara
and Jim Cromarty's way of saying
"everyone in the pool" when they announced this week that the
Super Pro
Truck division will be added to an already busy May 7th opening
night
program. There will now be eight divisions taking part in the
lid-lifter
that will get underway at 5:00 pm. That was just the first bit
of good news
for the Super Pro Trucks as it was also announced that longtime
seasonal
sponsor, Golden Auto Body of College Point, Queens will return
for the 2011
campaign.
Golden Auto Body has backed the Super Pro
Trucks year after year at
Riverhead Raceway and for 2011 Charlie Rizzo and his staff will
host the
Golden Auto Body night at the races Saturday September 17th when
it is quite
possible the 2011 champion could be determined for the class.
"Golden Auto
Body and the Super Pro Trucks have been a perfect fit over the
years" Bob
Finan noted, "we can't thank Charlie & Sandy Rizzo enough for
their loyal
support"
Roger Turbush of Riverhead comes to the
2001 SPT season as the defending
champion of the class and the third generation driver will have
to look no
further than his owner brother, Chris, to be among his stiffest
competition
if he is to repeat. Another racing family also has their
collective sights
on the title as Frank Dumicich Sr, Frank Jr and Erin Dumicich
will contend
for the championship as well tested tough veterans Mike Albasini,
Lou
Maestri and "Dangerous" Dave Koenig.
With the addition of the Super Pro Trucks
to the NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series opening night card, the program will start earlier, and
all the
pre-race activities such as the pit gate opening and practice
sessions will
be bumped-up as well. A complete time schedule will be announced
in the near
future.
Aside from the Super Pro Trucks the 2011
Riverhead Raceway season will be
ushered in by the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights,
Chargers,
Blunderbusts, Legend Race Cars and an 8-Cylinder Enduro.
