Bethel to Host LegendStock 2011 National Qualifer August 6
On April 30th, Bethel Motor Speedway will
open the gates on the much-anticipated 2011 season. Drivers are
anxious to get their tires on the new asphalt surface that was
laid in November in preparation for the quarter-mile asphalt
speedway’s 51st anniversary season.
For Legends and Bandolero drivers, the first half of the season
will once again lead up to LegendStock, which has grown over the
last several years to become one of the most exciting and
prestigious Legends races in the country, drawing in some of the
top talent nationwide.
LegendStock 2011 is slated for Saturday, August 6th, with a
raindate of August 7th. It has been announced that LegendStock
will be an INEX Asphalt Nationals qualifier for the second
consecutive year.
Last year, 46 cars were on hand for the event, and the division
winners were Daniel Hemric (Overall and Pro division), Kevin
Nowak (Semi Pro), Dusty Summers (Young Lions), and Tim
Brockhouse (Masters). Jordan Lamothe was the Bandolero race
winner.
With the wealth of driving talent that has been on hand for the
event in years past, there is no doubt that all eyes will be on
the entry list once registration opens for the race.
Everyone will be looking to see if Hemric will make the trip
from North Carolina in an attempt the score a hat trick by
winning his third LegendStock race in a row. They will also want
to know if Nowak, a Long Islander who has been moved to the Pro
division for 2011, will try to unseat Hemric and get the
prestigious win in the Pro class. Maryland resident Dusty
Summers, who will move into the Semi Pro class for 2011, has
racked up two straight wins in the Young Lions and could look to
take home a trophy this year.. And Tim Brockhouse of Minnesota,
who has registered a clean sweep by grabbing the Masters win
every year since LegendStock’s inception, may try yet again to
grab the elusive overall win.
The Bandolero class has produced a different winner in each of
the last three years, with Lamothe, Andrew Bickford, and Matt
Evans all adding it to their resume. Bickford and Evans both now
compete in Legends, leaving Lamothe as the only potential
candidate to be a repeat winner. For the 2011 season, it has
been announced that Bethel will once again waive the entry fee
for Bandolero drivers.
LegendStock will once again pay a guaranteed $1,500 to the
winner, with a total purse of no less than $3,000. More sought
after than the prize money, however, has become the three-foot
tall guitar-shaped trophy that the race has become known for.
Joining Legends and Bandoleros on the schedule for LegendStock
2011 will be the Sportsman and Pro Stock classes, ensuring that
it will be an action-packed night for the fans. Grandstand
admission at Bethel Motor Speedway is just $5 for all shows. For
