Safelite Auto Glass Renews with Riverhead's NASCAR Modifieds
When the high powered NASCAR Modifieds take
to Barbara and Jim Cromarty's
Riverhead Raceway for their season opener Saturday evening May
7th, they'll
again enjoy the backing of Safelite Auto Glass who'll return for
their second year as a seasonal sponsor for the premier division
of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. No less than eight
action packed feature events will usher in the 2011 campaign at
the 62-year old quarter mile with a special 5:00 pm start time
in effect for the lid lifter.
Safelite Auto Glass serves the New York
City and Long Island region with a
mobile van fleet in excess of 60 vehicles with mobile glass
replacement and
glass repair service for their customers from Manhattan to
Montauk. Richie
Searles of Safelite Auto Glass who along with Riverhead Raceway
officials
put this package together for the 2011 season is a former racer
himself in
both the Mini-Modifieds and NASCAR Modifieds. "Richie is a
former racer" Bob
Finan of the Riverhead staff noted, he knows how important
sponsorship is
for either a race team or a race facility and we thank him and
his Safelite
team for their support of our NASCAR Modified class".
The chase for the 2011 NASCAR Modified
title appears to be wide open for
2011 with 2010 champion Tom Rogers Jr. embarking out on the
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour this spring, although Rogers may
very well make some part-time starts at his home track in the
Joe & Debbie Ambrose #3. Among the drivers out to scoop up the
2011 title are John Fortin, Bill Park, Dave Brigati,
Wayne Anderson, Eddie Brunnhoelzl III, Chris Young, John Beatty
Jr., Ken
Darch and no less than three Solomito brothers. Indeed Shawn,
Timmy and
Jerry Solomito all have full blown NASCAR Modifieds at their
disposal from
their family race shop in Islip and depending upon sponsorship
all three
desire to run the entire 2011 Riverhead Raceway slate.
Aside from Rogers, both Howie Brode and
Chuck Steuer have indicated that
they will run a limited schedule of races at Riverhead this
summer, mainly
focusing in on the time trials shows which include the NASCAR
Hall of Fame
100 on May 15th, the Cromarty Cup 50 on July 2nd and the Baldwin
Evans &
Jarzombek 77 by Repo Joe on July 23rd. Brode is the defending
race winner of
the 77-lap classic.
Safelite Auto Glass joins Miller Lite as a
seasonal marketing partner with
the 2011 NASCAR Modifieds of Riverhead Raceway and Finan hinted
there might be more on the horizon, "we are trying to finalize a
deal with a major
retailer on Long Island" is all the veteran announcer would say.
However
seasonal and individual race sponsorships are very much still
available for
all divisions that compete at Riverhead, with seasonal packages
starting at
$1,250 and individual races starting at & $750, along with a
comprehensive
signage program with those rates starting at $700.
