Riverhead Figure Eights to Race for Cromarty Cup May 14
The tradition rich Figure Eight division of
the NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series at Riverhead Raceway will step into the spotlight on week
two of the
2011 season this Saturday with the run for the coveted Cromarty
Cup in a
20-lap feature event. Joining them on the race card that will
start at 5:30
pm will be six divisions of racing including the headlining
NASCAR
Modifieds.
Arne Pedersen of Mastic Beach is the
defending race winner of the Cromarty
Cup 20, a race that is run annually in honor of promoter Barbara
Cromarty's
birthday. Among the competition Arne will face, if he is to make
it two
Cromarty Cup wins in a row, will be younger brother and 2010
Figure Eight
champion Scott Pedersen. Roger Maynor who comes to the 2011
campaign with
101 career wins would love to win another Cromarty Cup as would
tested tough
veteran Mike Mujsce. Other top flight Figure Eight drivers such
as Tom
Ferrara, Ken Hyde Jr., Jim Donaldson and Dennis Scott all are
hoping to win
their first Cromarty Cup Saturday night.
Aside from the NASCAR Modifieds, who'll run
a 35-lap main event the week two
show will be made up of the Chargers, Blunderbusts, Super Pro
Trucks, Legend
Race Cars and a Grand Enduro. The Super Pro Trucks will utilize
time trial
qualifying for their 20-lap, double point feature event.
Time trials for the Super Pro Trucks are
set for 5:00 pm with feature event
