LegendStock Bonus
Offered To Riverhead Competitors
Many up and coming Legends drivers dream
of the opportunity to be in competition at the INEX Asphalt
Nationals held each year in October, and this year’s
announcement that the event will be held at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway has elevated the desire of many drivers to take part.
Drivers in the Northeast are already abuzz about their upcoming
shot to secure a position at the Nationals if they should happen
to win in their division at Bethel Motor Speedway’s LegendStock
2011 event, slated for Saturday, August 6th.This year’s running
of LegendStock will mark the second year that the event has had
the honor of being a qualifier race.
Over the past several years, LegendStock has grown to be one of
the biggest and most prestigious races for Legends teams to take
part in. In addition to racing for a minimum guaranteed total
purse of $3,000 – of which the winner takes home $1,500 – many
drivers have their eyes on the unique guitar-shaped trophies
that are presented to the division winners.
For Long Island-based teams, the ante has been upped by a local
company that is offering a $150 bonus to the highest finishing
driver in the event that names Riverhead Raceway as their home
track. Last year, Kevin Nowak was the highest finishing
competitor from Riverhead Raceway, as he finished sixth and also
took home the Semi-Pro division win. Nowak, who wound up as the
2010 Riverhead Raceway Legends champion, later competed at the
INEX Asphalt Nationals, which were held at Langley Speedway.
Other Long Island drivers who made it into last year’s
LegendStock A-main were Chris Young (9th), Jim Byrne (19th), and
Tom Sherman (20th). Several other Riverhead competitors made the
trip but did not qualify for the A-main.
Dura-Seal Blacktop Sealer, a Seaford, Long Island-based company
that specializes in both commercial and residential blacktop
sealing, has stepped forward to put up the bonus. For more
information about their services, contact Dura-Seal at (516)
735-2928.
Last year’s LegendStock event drew in 46 competitors, and North
Carolina’s Daniel Hemric walked away with both the Pro division
and overall win for the second straight year. It is certain that
all eyes will be on the entry list as it is updated to see if
Hemric throws his hat in the ring once again. In the Masters
division, Minnesota’s Tim Brockhouse has been the man to beat in
every running of the event and he intends to make the trip to
Bethel once again in an attempt to capture the overall win that
has eluded him so far. Dusty Summers, who has been the Young
Lions winner in the last two LegendStock events, has moved into
the Semi-Pro division for the 2011 season, and will be competing
for that win if he competes at LegendStock 2011.LegendStock 2011
is already shaping up to be a spectacular event that is certain
to draw in competitors from across the Northeast and beyond.
Online registration for LegendStock 2011 is now open at
www.legendstockshootout.com. The entry fee is $70 until July
17th, and $85 after July 17th. Payment can be made by PayPal,
