Full-Size School Bus Demolition Derby Set for July 16
When they come together in a Demolition
Derby the 13-ton Full Size School
Buses make a thunderous sound and that is exactly the noise
Riverhead
Raceway fans love and will hear on Saturday July 16th as Barbara
and Jim
Cromarty present the first Full Size School Bus Demolition Derby
of the 2011
season. A full card of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock
car racing
will be presented and it will be Safelite Auto Glass night for
the
headlining NASCAR Modifieds.
The Full Size School Bus Demolition
Derby on July 16th will be the first of
two such events this season with the second unfolding on
Saturday evening
August 6th on the track's Night of Adventure featuring Tony
Petersen's Hell
Drivers. All the top Full Size School Bus Demolition Derby
drivers are
expected to be in the field on July 16th including the popular
Michael
"Cheesebox" Rommeney of Maspeth who got things off to a good
start with a
May 28th Full Size School Bus Figure Eight win. Recently Super
Pro Truck
points leader "Dangerous" Dave Koenig of Freeport notified track
management
that he procured a bus for the July 16th event as well. Also
expected to
compete are "Hubcap" Brandon Hubbard from the Blunderbust
division and Kyle
Ellwood from the Legends and NASCAR Modifieds among others. No
matter who competes the end result is a thrilling time for young
and old alike watching
the big yellow buses destroy each other in a bone jarring
contest.
Safelite Auto Glass will be feted for
their seasonal sponsorship of the
NASCAR Modifieds in 2011 at Riverhead Raceway and at the
conclusion of their
35-lap main event the winners will walk off with the Safelite
Auto Glass
trophy. Safelite boasts a mobile fleet of auto glass repair and
replacement
vehicles that number 60 and can service auto glass needs from
Montauk to
Manhattan. The 2011 championship chase is in full flight with
Justin
Bonsignore and John Fortin of Holtsville the two main combatants
as of press
time with Shawn Solomito of Islip sitting third, so the Safelite
Auto Glass
night race could be pivotal towards who claims the crown.
Completing the program are the Late
Models who will be in action for the
second straight week and will run a 25-lap main event, while the
Chargers,
Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks will complete the card and run
in 20-lap
feature events.
Racing will start at 6:00 pm and you'll
want to get to Riverhead Raceway
early on July 16th for another great night of family
entertainment and
NASCAR stock car racing. For further information please visit
