LIKA Continues Improvements

On Sunday, July 17th is the LIKA Race #6 and the Vanderbilt Race #3 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Gates will open at 7:30am with on track activities to start around 9:00am.

Track Repairs Completed:

I want to let everyone know that repairs to the track were made this week. Both “bumps” on the long straightaway were repaired. The bump at the end of the straightaway and the holes after the first hairpin turn have also all been addressed. These repairs were made by the guys at Varsity Asphalt and should allow for some nice smooth racing. Check out our Facebook page for more photos of the track repairs.

Transponders:

If you pre-ordered a transponder with Chris at the LIKA Registration Desk, the transponders have come in. The club was able to negotiate a good price as part of the bulk purchase. You can pick up your transponder at Sunday’s race. The price for the transponder is $260.00. This is a $40.00 savings off of the suggested retail price. We do have a few extra transponders, so there is still some time to get one at the discounted price.

MG Tires Distributor:

Long Island Karting Association is now a MG Tire Distributor. Because of the club’s relationship with MG Tires, we have been able to become a local distributor. We will be selling MG Tires through our existing vendors that support the club. If you are a racer and need tires, contact one of our vendors. If you are a karting vendor, club or track owner and need tires, please contact me directly.

Scoring and Registration Trailer:

The new Scoring and Race Registration trailer will be at this Sunday’s race. This trailer will make setup and take down of Scoring much easier. It will also provide for a secure location for Race Registration. The Grid Board will be mounted to the side door of the trailer for easy viewing and the PA system will be mounted to the roof for greater coverage. This trailer will be a great addition to the LIKA race day.
