Riverhead Raceway Adds Two HDRA 100-Foot Drag Events - Sept.
18 & 25
The Holeshot Drag Racing Association 100
Foot Drags will find two added dates to their 2011 Riverhead
Raceway schedule as this past Monday Barbara & Jim Cromarty
announced they have added events on Sunday September 18th, as
well as Sunday September 25th. The combination of the events'
popularity as well as the rain-out of two scheduled races in
August prompted the decision.
In three events run at Riverhead in May,
June and July the HDRA 100 Foot Drags have drawn a total of 264
to compete with drivers racing in two brackets, sub 2.99 or
those 3.00 or slower. They've also encouraged Motorcycle riders
to come test their skills against the clock and the great aspect
of these events is competitors getting numerous attempts at
locking in their time for the eliminations. Some drivers have
run over a dozen times during the test & tune session that
starts at 12 noon at the HDRA Riverhead Raceway races. Pit gates
open at 10:00 am and while walking the pit area many drag racers
have seen some old familiar faces from the former Long Island
Dragway in Westhampton taking part in the fun at Riverhead.
The Cromarty's did note while making the
announcement of the additional dates that September 25th also
serves as a rain date for the track's final oval race card of
2011 which would be the previous evening, September 24th. In the
event that Enduro show gets rained-out they would utilize the
September 25th date and the 100 Foot Drags would be cancelled.
