Doug Coby and Jamie
Tomaino Are Early Turkey Derby Entries
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Two standout
drivers from the Whelen Modified Tour, Doug Coby of Westfield,
Mass. and Jamie Tomaino of Howell, N.J., are among the early
entries for the Touring Modified stock car 150-lap race at
Turkey Derby XXXVIII at Wall Stadium. Turkey Derby is a two-day
event set for Friday November 25 and Saturday November 26 during
the daylight hours.
Coby is coming off one of his best
seasons ever on the Whelan Modified Tour where he finished in
the top five in the season points and won a 125-lap event at the
Thompson (Ct.) Speedway in September. Coby seems to know the
fast way around the Wall Stadium oval as proven by a pole
position qualify run at the shore speedway in 2004.
Tomaino, a local favorite at the third
mile paved oval, was the 1990 Whelen Modified Tour driving
champion. Tomaino has enjoyed 3 wins during his Tour career and
28 victories at Wall Stadium, including a triumph in the 1981
edition of the Turkey Derby.
In addition, former Whelen Modified Tour
regular Danny Sammons has sent his entry for the Touring
Modified race, as has local favorite Rob Ormsbee who will be
competing in both Touring Modified and Late Model Stock car
events.
The Touring Modified portion of Turkey
Derby will feature a 150-lap main event with caution flag laps
counting during the first 100 circuits.
