Blewett and Hinckley
Lead Latest Tour Modified Entries for Turkey Derby
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Jimmy Blewett of
Howell, a multi-time race winner, driving champion and Turkey
Derby title holder, and Les Hinckley of Windsor Locks, Ct., a
many-time feature race winner in New England and a Turkey Derby
favorite, are among the most recent entries for the Touring
Modified stock car 150-lap race at Turkey Derby XXXVIII at Wall
Stadium. Turkey Derby is a two-day event set for Friday November
25 and Saturday November 26 during the daylight hours.
In addition to this pair of racing stars
from recent Turkey Derby action, several other top Modified
speedsters sent their entries to the Wall Stadium office in
recent days. Ken Barry of Preston Ct., who has been fast on
Wall’s third mile paved oval in the past, has sent his entry in
for Turkey Derby, as has Long Island racer Ken Darch, Andy Walko
of Flemington and Rich Kuiken, Jr. of Staffordville.
More Touring Modified entries are
expected in the mail soon as several cars were testing at the
track on November 12. Howell’s Ken Woolley, Jr., Steven Reed of
Freehold and former Turkey Derby champion Rowan Pennink of
Huntington Valley, Pa. were among those drivers practicing their
Modified style cars on November 12.
The Touring Modified portion of Turkey
Derby will feature a 150-lap main event with caution flag laps
counting during the first 100 circuits.
One last pre-Turkey Derby practice
session is set for this Saturday, November 19, from 10:00 a.m.
until 3:00 p.m.
Turkey Derby XXXVIII is set for Friday
November 25 and Saturday November 26 during the daylight hours.
On November 25, practice will start at 8:30 a.m., while
qualifying will start at noon and feature racing will begin at
2:00 p.m. On November 26, practice will start at 8:30 a.m., with
qualifying set for 11:00 a.m. and feature racing set for 1:00
p.m.
Pit gates will open at 6:30 a.m., with
pre-purchased grandstand seating opening at 9:30 a.m. and
grandstand seating opening at 10:00 a.m. both days.
Friday main event action will feature
the paved Sportsman cars, the dirt Sportsman cars, Late Models,
Legend Cars and the Factory Stocks. On Saturday, the Touring
Modifieds, Wall Modifieds, dirt Modifieds, TQ Midgets and Street
Stocks will all see main event action.
