Riverhead Adds Two
Sunday Enduro Shows for 2012
The competitors of the Riverhead Raceway
Enduro series are receiving an early Holiday present from
promoters Barbara & Jim Cromarty which they will find in the
soon to be released 2012 schedule that has two Sunday dates
being added for the New Year. It was also announced that the
4-Cylinder and 6-Cylinder divisions will be combined for the new
season of Enduro racing that will get underway Sunday afternoon
May 6th at the quarter mile oval.
In 2011 the Enduro racers had just two
Sunday shows to compete in and, by popular demand that number
will double for 2012. Aside from the May 6th opener the Enduro
drivers will go toe-to-toe on Memorial Day weekend, Sunday May
27th and then return on Father's Day Sunday June 17th for
another afternoon tilt. The final Sunday event of the year will
unfold Labor Day weekend during the annual Monster Truck
doubleheader on Sunday September 2nd. The 2012 Enduro season
will conclude with the traditional Saturday twi-light finale on
September 22nd, which not only wraps-up the Enduro race season
but also the entire Riverhead Raceway stock car schedule.
As has become commonplace over the past
few seasons at Riverhead Raceway each class of Enduro racing
will race under the lights with the NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series on select Saturday nights. The 8-Cylinder cars will be
the first division to do so on May 19th and race again on June
30th. The new 4/6-Cylinder Enduro format for cars will race on
Saturday June 2nd and again July 14th.
The Grand Enduro teams will race three
times on Saturdays in 2012, June 9th, August 4th and September
8th. The 4/6-Cylinder Trucks will go to the grid in front of the
Saturday night fans twice during the season on both June 23rd
and August 18th.
The combining of the 4-Cylinder and
6-Cylinder car Enduro divisions follows the lead of the
4/6-Cylinder Truck class where the two engine types and vehicles
race together with a very successful level of competition and in
the process streamlines the "stand alone" Enduro race programs.
As always all Enduro divisions are
welcome to take part in the two pre-season warm-up days at
Riverhead Raceway which are set for Saturday April 21st and
April 28th.
