Erick Rudolph Will Travel a Long Road to Race Indoors in Atlantic City

The biggest challenge teenage racer Erick Rudolph will face racing in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall is not likely to be on the track. It’s the trip getting there.
The 10th edition of the event under the direction of Len Sammons and staff is planned for Friday and Saturday nights Feb. 3-4, 2012. TQ (three quarter) Midgets, dirt 600cc Micro-Sprints, Slingshots and Champ Karts will be in competition.
Rudolph enjoys racing so much that he will be traveling from Ransomville, N.Y., an eight hour drive each way, to compete in both the TQ Midget and dirt 600cc Micro Sprint races.
In excess of sixty TQ teams and nearly thirty dirt 600cc Micro Sprint teams have entered with that number expected to grow steadily.
“I like to race as much as I can,” said Rudolph, 19. “And it’s been a long winter.”
With rules modifications instituted for this year’s Atlantic City Indoor race, the opportunity for drivers to “double down” - compete in both headline classes - has attracted a large field of entries in both divisions.
Racers wishing to enter any of the divisions competing in Atlantic City may find entry and rule information available at aarn.com.
Rudolph will be exceptionally well prepared in his quest for two wins in two races. Both of his cars were built by Mark Lafler, one of the top car builders in the northeast.
“Indoor racing takes a lot of patience,” said Rudolph, “It’s close quarters racing.”
The third generation race car driver got his first taste of winter indoor racing at Niagara Falls, N.Y., a mecca for the sport in the previous two decades. Rudolph competed in go-kart racing events there.
Tickets for the Atlantic City event are on sale now at Ticketmaster outlets online at www.ticketmaster.com and at the Boardwalk Hall box office. Ticket prices remain the same as the past event. Premium seats sell out quickly.
Further information can also be obtained by calling the show office (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at 609-888-3618.
