TIME SCHEDULE FOR RIVERHEAD RACEWAY PRACTICE DAYS
DISCLOSED
(Riverhead, NY) Spring
training for the drivers and the machines of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series
at Riverhead Raceway is just days away and today officials of the popular
quarter mile oval announced the time schedule for the two pre season
practices on Saturday April 8th and April 15th. All seven of the track's
stock car divisions will take participation in the warm up sessions.
Admission to the grandstand area will be free of charge for spectators.
The pit gate will open at 10:00 am for both April 8th
and again April 15th with the first practice to hit the track at 12 noon and
the activities will run until 5:00 pm. Riverhead Raceway chief steward Joe
Larsen urged everyone to try and get to the track early, "before a car
goes on the race track we will do a safety inspection only on the car, so
arrive early and we'll get you on the track if your car passes the safety
check" Joe disclosed. The full technical inspections will take place as
well but a car does not have to go through that process just to practice.
Another reason for race teams to arrive early is to
obtain and fill out their NASCAR license applications, as all pit personnel
will require a license for the practice days, as well all NASCAR race meets
in 2000. "Everyone will need not only to have a NASCAR license for
2000, but be able to produce it upon request". Larsen warned. "We
will be doing random checks all season long and if you can't produce your
license you will be asked to leave the pit area"
Taking part in the test and tune practice days will
be the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts,
Legend Race Cars and the Super Pro Trucks. Fans are encouraged to bring
their camera and take some pictures of all the freshly painted racing
machines before they roar into official competition.
Once all the practicing and fine-tuning has been
completed the 2000 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at Riverhead Raceway will
open in full on Saturday night April 22nd with a seven-division format of
the above-mentioned classes on the card. Qualifying will start at 4:30 pm
and the feature events will begin at 6:30 pm on opening night and every
Saturday in 2000.
