NASCAR
WHELEN
MODIFED TOUR
SET FOR
RETURN TO
JENNERSTOWN
DAYTONA
BEACH, Fla.
(July 5,
2005) – Six
years have
passed since
the last
NASCAR
Whelen
Modified
Tour race at
Jennerstown
Speedway in
Jennerstown
Pa. When the
field for
the Wheeler
Brothers 150
lines up for
the series
return on
July 9, it
will consist
of veterans
of the
series who
have raced
at
Jennerstown
and
newcomers
who will be
making their
first start
at
picturesque
1/2 mile
facility in
western
Pennsylvania.
That
scenario
includes the
Hirschman
family.
Tony
Hirschman of
Northampton,
Pa, the
defending
NASCAR
Whelen
Modified
Tour
champion won
the last
series race
at
Jennerstown
back in
1999.
“I’m really
looking
forward to
going back
to
Jennerstown,
“said
Hirschman
who also won
at
Jennerstown
in 1989.
“It’s a
first class
facility a
great racing
surface and
great fans.
And, it’s in
my home
state.”
Hirschman,
who drives
the Kamco
Supply
Chevrolet,
will square
off with
some of the
best open
wheel
drivers in
the country.
Scheduled to
be among
them is his
son Matt who
made his
first series
start at
Waterford
Conn. on
June 25th.
“It’s great
to be racing
with Matt,”
said
Hirschman.
“We haven’t
quite raced
wheel to
wheel yet
but I’m sure
that will
happen.”
Matt
Hirschman’s
first series
start at
Waterford
went
according to
plan. After
qualifying
12th
he worked
his way to 8th
allowing him
to record a
Top 10
finish in
his first
start.
“I was very
pleased with
the whole
day”, said
Matt
Hirschman.
“It was my
first time
at Waterford
and I
learned a
lot the
entire
weekend”.
Matt
Hirschman is
ready for
his second
career start
in the Ed
Bennett
properties
Chevrolet.
Jennerstown
is another
track he has
not raced
at, but has
visited.
“I’ve
watched my
father race
there,” said
Hirschman.
“It’s a
great track
and I’m
looking
forward to
running
there.”
