NEVIN GEORGE LOOKS TO REPEAT AT BEECH RIDGE
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla (July 15, 2005)The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will travel to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine for its only appearance for the season on Saturday, July 23. The New England Dodge Dealers 150 is scheduled to start at 9:00 p.m. Defending race winner Nevin George, of Kunkletown, Pa., will try to become the first repeat winner at Beech Ridge. In four previous events at the 1/3 mile oval, no driver has been able to visit victory lane a second time. Last season George drove the Bruce George Paving Chevrolet, owned by Ralph Solhem, to his second career victory. He led 131 laps of the 150 lap race. “We had a really great set up last year,” said George. “Hopefully we’ll be just as strong when we return.” George looks forward to racing again at Beech Ridge. “It’s a great track,” he says. “It reminds me of some of the places I first started racing at. The fans in Maine are great and they really seem to enjoy our series.” Nevin George and the Bruce George Paving Chevrolet race team head to Beech Ridge after a Top-10 finish last Friday at New Hampshire International Speedway. After a practice crash on Thursday the team, “burned the midnight oil” to get the car ready for Friday’s 100 lap race. “Ralph and the whole crew worked past midnight,” said George. “It was because of their efforts we were able to pick up a Top-10 finish. We made a few stops during the race and they just kept getting the car better and better. We had very little practice, so I was happy with the way the race went.” Nevin George will be tested by 29 of the finest open wheeled drivers in the nation as he attempts to become the first repeat winner in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour history at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
